Outreach 101: Prevention and Proactive Engagement with the University of Tennessee at Martin Care Team

The University of Tennessee at Martin (UTM) Care Team on a mission to help students overcome barriers to success by promoting academic, social, and mental well-being. Join Shannon Perry and Priscilla Price from the Office of Student Conduct and Care and the UTM Care Team to learn how UTM Care Team creatively expanded preventative and proactive programming geared toward holistic well-being, resiliency, and student success while addressing substance use and mental health concerns. The duo will share programming ideas and unusual partnerships and discuss the challenges and benefits of providing fun, engaging activities for students. Participants will gain insights and examples to take back to their institutions and communities. Whether grabbing a cup of hot cocoa and a donut during our Donut not Drugs, Hope and Hot Cocoa event with the Care Team, Project Lifeline, and Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network, reeling in a catfish at the Care Team, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, UTM Public Safety, and UTM Wildlife Society Fishing Rodeo, or grabbing some popcorn at Popping Corn not Pills with the Care Team, Weakly County Prevention Coalition, and UTM Healthy Hawks, outreach activities and the positive impacts on student well-being and campus culture has been transformational.
